Unit/Summary

In our efforts to improve health in the communities we serve, St. Luke's is excited to offer innovative orthopedic patient care at our state-of-the-art Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine facility (COSM). COSM will bring together numerous complementary healthcare services, such as orthopedic walk-in care, a surgery center, physical therapy, pharmacy services, and many more. Patients will experience accessible and affordable orthopedic care unlike any other in the Treasure Valley. Our 230,000-square-foot facility will open to patients in February 2024.

Qualifications

* Education: HS/GED
* Licenses/Certifications:
* American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification
* Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery - Certified (CST-NCCT) by National Center Competency Testing (NCCT)

Responsibilities:

* Performs pre-operative procedures such as selection and placement of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
* Assists surgeon and designated assistants in invasive procedures, passing instruments and supplies and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
* During the surgical procedure provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
* Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and helps apply dressings.
* Applies basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology and microbiology.
* Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating room.
* May develop, organize and deliver continuing education topics and/or training (in-services).
* May assist in precept of students and new staff. 
* Maintains a safe work environment.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Education: High school diploma or equivalent
* Experience: 0 years experience
* Licenses/Certifications: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery
* Certified (CST-NCCT) by National Center Competency Testing (NCCT) AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
