The Cashier, Senior II, will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring efficient and accurate transactions at our grocery store. Building upon the responsibilities of a standard cashier, this senior-level position requires a deeper level of expertise and experience in cashiering operations. They are responsible for handling various payment methods, resolving customer inquiries, and assisting in training and mentoring junior cashiers. Exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will contribute to the store's success in delivering a positive shopping experience for our valued customers.
Responsibilities:

* Customer Service
* Greet customers warmly and provide a friendly and professional demeanor throughout their shopping experience
* Assist customers in locating products, answering questions, and addressing concerns promptly and courteously
* Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a calm and effective manner, ensuring customer satisfaction
* Accurate Transaction Processing
* Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately, processing sales, returns, and exchanges swiftly and efficiently
* Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure correct balances.
* Payment Processing: Accept various forms of payment, including cash, credit cards, mobile payments, and electronic vouchers, ensuring compliance with store policies and procedures
* Provide guidance and support to junior cashiers, offering training and assistance as needed
* Monitor cashier performance, offering constructive feedback to improve efficiency and customer service skills
* Assist in resolving complex or escalated customer issues, working collaboratively with store management
* Maintain a balanced cash drawer throughout shifts, adhering to cash handling and security protocols
* Prepare daily cash reconciliation reports and submit them to store management
* Monitor and report any discrepancies or suspected fraudulent activities
* Collaborate with other store departments, such as stock personnel and customer service, to ensure seamless store operations
* Assist in restocking shelves and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Education / Certifications & Experience: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Experience:
* 3 + Yrs Proven experience as a cashier in a grocery store or similar retail environment.
* Prior experience in a senior or lead cashier role is an advantage.
* Skills
* Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
* Very good command of the English language.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Proficiency in operating cash registers and POS systems.
* Working Conditions:
* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
* The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
* Physical Requirements:
* Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
