Overview: This is a full time, 32 hour per week position. At CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs patients are at the heart of our care. Our campus is designed to heal the body mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services include a new pavilion featuring enhancements in heart and vascular care surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging. The Care Management Associate is responsible for ensuring appropriate communication with third party payers to authorize hospital days. They obtain information from clinical reviews done by the case manager as well as patient medical information from other computer applications utilized by the facility. Responsibilities: * Utilizes case management software to generate work lists * Submits clinical information per third party payer requirements * Upon identification of possible concurrent denial, forwards information to appropriate case manager * Notifies third party payer of patient discharge and secures all days * Assists with non-clinical functions to coordinate care transitions * Utilizes effective communication skills to accurately complete work * Collaborates effectively with all department staff to achieve goals and objectives Qualifications: Required Education for Staff Job Levels High School Diploma/GED PREFERRED Qualifications * Medical Terminology * Computer Proficient
