Responsibilities:

As our Cardiac Surgical Tech II at CHI St Vincent Infirmary, you'll prepare the operating room for a variety of surgeries. We can't operate without you. 

Every day you will collaborate with the surgical team, meticulously preparing the operating room, assisting the surgeon, and managing instruments and supplies. You will maintain a sterile field and anticipate team needs for efficiency and patient safety.

To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective performance under pressure. Your commitment to teamwork and sterile technique will be paramount for safe and successful surgical outcomes.

Checks case cart and gathers instrument and supply needs prior to surgical procedure.
Assists in hemostasis as directed by sponging, clamping, ligating, removing clamps, cutting sutures, using the electrocoagulation unit and suctioning.
Assist in the reduction of fractures by stabilizing and keeping the bone in alignment during the application of screws, pins, intramedullary rods, implants and/or while the bone is being drilled.
Performs ongoing procedural assessment during procedures/therapies
Observes patient responses toward procedure and inform appropriate personnel for any untoward reactions.
Complies to all infection control policies and procedures identified in the departmental manual

Qualifications:

Required

* Graduate of an approved surgical technology program
* Diploma Of Nursing Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing with attendance of the core curriculum for perioperative nursing or equivalent training and 1-3 years one year surgical experience, upon hire or
* Technical School Graduate of an approved surgical technology program (one or two year program) and 1-3 years one year surgical experience
* Must be able to rotate taking surgical call (weeknights / weekends).
* Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
