 Cardiac Sonographer I

Position SummaryThe Cardiac Sonographer I performs diagnostic echocardiographic examinations, including transthoracic and transesophageal studies, while working closely with cardiologists to ensure accurate, high-quality imaging and patient-centered care.
Education Requirements
* Required: High School Diploma or GED

* Preferred: Associate Degree or higher

* Preferred: Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Cardiovascular Program

Experience Requirements
* Preferred: Minimum 1 year of cardiac sonography experience

* New graduates are encouraged to apply

Licensure & Certification
* Required: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS or RCS)

* New graduates will have up to 6 months to obtain registry

* Required: BLS certification (per Life Support Training Policy)

Key Responsibilities
* Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound exams, including TTE and TEE

* Acquire and evaluate echocardiographic images and hemodynamic data

* Use independent judgment to differentiate normal vs. pathological findings

* Ensure patient safety, comfort, and clear communication throughout exams

* Maintain ultrasound equipment and report equipment issues as needed

* Collaborate with cardiologists and care teams to optimize image quality

* Document studies and generate preliminary echocardiography reports

Required Skills
* Proficiency in echocardiography equipment and imaging techniques

* Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound principles

* Ability to work independently and manage changing workloads

* Effective communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs
