				Overview:

Presbyterian is seeking a Cardiac Device Specialist (CDS) transmission. In this role, the Cardiac Device Specialist provides safe, thorough and proficient CIED assessment. This includes initial analysis of pacemakers, ICD or IRL with associated arrhythmia recognition, management of device/lead alert indicators, understanding the patient's response to pacing and device therapies, application of pacing theory and advanced understanding of pacing concepts. The Cardiac Device Specialist is an integral team member, collaborating with Device Clinic nurses, Electrophysiologists, Cardiologists, APCs, Research Department and other team members in the daily management of our CIED patient population

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-hour days

Responsibilities:

* Performs CIED interrogation in the ambulatory clinic setting and thoroughly evaluates for device status, function, patient response to pacing, recognizes device and/or lead abnormalities, malfunctions and alert indicators for all four major manufacturers (Medtronic, Abbott/St. Jude Medical, Boston Scientific and Biotronik).
* Effectively troubleshoots CIED issues, such as sensing or capture issues with resolution in the moment for best patient outcomes.
* Supports all aspects of documentation in the electronic CIED reporting system and the Electronic Medical Record and ensures proper and timely documentation and billing.
* Coordinates and prioritizes with other members of the healthcare team to respond to patients and clinic volumes in order to initiate timely and efficient care.
* Collaborates with Device Clinic Nurses daily for management of CIED patient population for appropriate patient disposition.
* Notifies Device Clinic Nurse, APP, or physicians of patients with a device or lead malfunction, abnormal heart rhythms and/or significant clinical symptoms and assists in arranging appropriate patient disposition.
* Educates patients and families regarding device function, CIED remote monitoring process, and clinic follow-up schedule.
* Assists with the scheduling of routine CIED follow up as well as device replacement procedure.
* Review and document remote CIED transmissions on daily basis or as assigned. Prioritize patient disposition for abnormal findings and/or arrhythmia documentation on remote CIED transmission. Consult with Device Clinic Nurse, Electrophysiologist or APC as needed for appropriate action.
* Actively assists Device Clinic team with manufacturer device advisories/recalls following recommended guidelines by the manufacturer.
* Collaborates with our Research Department for patients enrolled in CIED research studies by collecting required data during device assessment and completing necessary forms.
* Participates in a positive, proactive and collaborative manner with other members of the team to promote a healthy clinical environment and solid working relationships.
* Incorporates patient safety by following departmental protocols.
* Maintains knowledge of department and regulatory agency policies and requirements.
* Provides coverage within the Electrophysiology and Device Clinic Department at our satellite offices.
* Within scope of position, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Associate degree in an Allied Health related field, Bachelors degree preferred.
* Formal CIED training within six months of hire with Certificate of course completion through Arrhythmia Technologies Institute, PrepMD or similar program
* BLS, ACLS required
* Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) preferred.
* Certification through International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners for CCDS will be required within 5 years of hire.
