Job Summary

Camp Supervisors Outdoor Day Camp will serve on an engaging and dynamic team, playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans are provided to the participants. You will oversee the planning and implementation of a safe and quality day camp program, providing day-to-day support and overall management of the program site. You will supervise and evaluate the staff and volunteers, including training, maintaining required staff / child ratios, and conducting regular staff meetings. You will be an important part of helping to maintain professional relationships with families, facility / school personnel, and the community. Recreational activities with campers include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, sports, social recreation, songs, nature hikes, archery, and other games and enrichment activities.

Day Camp season runs June 24 through the end of August with training the week of June 15 - 21. Start dates vary by location and program.

We are looking to hire full-time, seasonal staff at our Camp Keller location, and expected hours of work are during Day Camp hours, Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Hiring Range: $24 - $26.40 / hour

Responsibilities:

What you'll be doing as Camp Supervisor Outdoor Day Camp:

* Manage a team of Leads and Counselors working with groups of 10-15 children each.
* Implement program activities. May be asked to assist in planning activities.
* Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
* Professionally engage with parents / guardians to provide pertinent program information and share about their camper's experience.
* Ensure that equipment is clean, safe, set up, and stored properly.
* Attend staff meetings and training programs as required.
* Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Code of Conduct for Applicants

Qualifications:

You are 21 years of age or older and have:

* 2 - 3 years of experience with children, including camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
* 1 - 3 years of experience supervising a team of 3 or more.
* Experience planning and implementing group activities.
* Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty, and passion for excellence.
* Completion of CPR / First Aid training.*

Preferred Education/Experience:

* Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
* Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
