Responsibilities:

CHI St. Joseph's Health is excited to announce two summer CNA Intern positions within our Emergency Department! These valuable opportunities are supported through the MN Hospital Association Summer Health Care Intern Program. We are seeking highly motivated and empathetic post-secondary/college students who are considering a career in healthcare.
 
As a summer intern, you will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, providing essential support in basic patient care and contributing to a comfortable environment for our patients. Your experience may include observation in areas such as surgery, laboratory, and imaging, with specific responsibilities tailored to the assigned unit or department.
 
At St. Joseph's Health, we recognize that fundamental patient care is crucial to overall comfort. In this role, you will be involved in gathering patient information, assisting with medication reminders, supporting patients during mealtimes, and ensuring their personal needs are met. Our Nursing Assistants serve as a vital connection between patients and their care teams, and we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our established team.

What you'll do...

* Contributes to the assessment of the health status of patients.
* Assist medical/nursing staff in the examination, treatment and care of patients, including the transport of patients and equipment and assisting in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients.  
* Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc., and submit these as may be required.
* Communicate patient information with care teams.
* Assist patients/families with meals or changing bed linens.
* Reports any changes in a patient's condition to the Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
* Must have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse environment.
* Additional responsibilities as defined by manager 

Qualifications:

* Must be a local high school or college student exploring a healthcare career.
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the state of Minnesota.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
