Responsibilities:
Join the St. John's Flexible Staffing Pool and become a valuable member of our team, providing essential patient care support across our network of hospitals! As a CNA in our staffing pool, you will have the opportunity to work in various departments, including medical-surgical, telemetry, and emergency services, gaining diverse experience and expanding your skills. This position offers exceptional flexibility and the chance to make a difference in the lives of patients throughout our system.
* Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
* Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
* Monitor and report changes in patients' condition to the nursing staff.
* Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
* Assist with patient ambulation and transfers.
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
* Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
* Document care provided in the electronic health record (EHR).
* Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
Required:
* Current CNA Certification (CT NA)
* Current AHA CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)
* High School education or equivalent
* Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant program.
Preferred Requirements:
* Six (6) months of recent hospital experience as a CNA
Special Skills:
* Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Ability to operate common office equipment, including computers.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
