Department Overview: 

The Dolly Parton Birthing Center at LeConte Medical Center is fully equipped with 10 LDRP beds, 9 post-partum/GYN rooms, a nursery, a 2 bed triage unit, 1 recovery room, and 1 OR Suite. This department is a family-centered birthing unit whose main goal is to provide excellent birthing experiences for patients and their families, and to promote family bonding with care and education. 

Position Summary: 

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

* Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care.
*  Assess learning needs of patient and family.
*  Develops and initiates teaching plan, involving patient and family.
*  Recommends interventions.
*  Evaluates plan of care.
*  Resolves problems regarding less complex issues without oversight or supervision.
* Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
*  Leads process improvement initiatives in their own unit or participate in facility team.
* Provides four contact hours of educational activities, excluding basic patient education.
*  Contributes to development and evaluation of unit orientation program.
*  Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
*  Demonstrates willingness to precept new employees/students as directed.
*  Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
*  Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

Must possess at least three(3) year of professional experience.

Licensure Requirement:

Valid Tennessee RN license. CPR required.N license
