Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the Buyer is dynamic with responsibilities that encompass engaging with vendors to secure vital products and service information. The Buyer expertly selects products by testing, observing, or examining items, and estimates values based on market knowledge, determining the procurement method, whether through direct purchase or a bidding process. Responsibilities also include reviewing requisitions, preparing purchase orders, and bid requests, and expediting the delivery of goods to users. In this role, the Buyer contributes to the efficient and effective procurement of essential resources for the Property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Confers with vendors to obtain products or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
* Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
* Estimates values according to knowledge of market price and determines method of procurement.
* Reviews requisitions, prepares purchase orders and/or bid requests, and expedites delivery of goods to users.
* Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
* Maintain procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
* Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
* Ensure regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
* Minimum of 18 years of age.
* Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University, or 1-2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
* The ability to read, write, and communication verbally in English.
* The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
* The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
* Must be very detail oriented.
* The ability to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues, and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
* The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
* Must qualify for a license with the Maryland State Lottery Agency and meet any credentialling requirements of the Maryland Gaming Control Board.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Slot operating systems.
* The ability to interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Team Member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
