Responsibilities:

At IPS, we apply our knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in the lives of people, solving complex challenges related to life sciences. We are looking for a dedicated Buyer 1  to join our EMEA Team in Birmingham UK.

The Buyer 1 will report directly to the EMEA Procurement Manager.

The Buyer will assist in the end-to-end management of the procurement cycle for their assigned packages in accordance with project specific requirements. This is inclusive of pre-order procurement activities and post-order award management. Assigned packages will be a blend of the following IPS work streams:

* Capital equipment (process, mechanical, electrical, automation, instrumentation etc.)
* Construction trade contracts
* Professional services contracts
* Office & site indirect requirements

The Junior Buyer will assist the procurement team in executing the procurement process for these work streams as well as handling specific packages directly under the guidance of Senior Buyers & Project Leads.

Key Skills & Core Competencies:

* Experience in the end-to-end procurement process (preferable but not mandatory)
* Ability to work at pace within a project-based environment.
* Ability to deal with time dependent requirements
* Self-motivated, organized, and an effective problem solver
* IT Literacy is essential, strong experience in MS Office is preferable
* Effective communicator
* Ability to work both collaboratively in line with project requirements and working to established processes & procedures

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Under the guidance of senior procurement team members execute the following tasks:
* Management of the tender process for assigned packages. This will entail taking a package from the point of receipt of scope through enquiry, bid evaluation and to the point of recommendation to award.
* Conduct detailed commercial evaluation of received supplier proposals
* Prepare and submit Recommendation To Award packs for internal and external management approval
* Prepare and issue Purchase Order/Contract packs
* Obtain order confirmations to ensure services or materials are being scheduled per order requests.
* Expedite orders to track timely receipt of goods or services.
* Manage the change order process with suppliers and IPS & client stakeholders for assigned orders
* Manage the invoicing process with suppliers and IPS & client stakeholders for assigned orders
* Manage the order closeout process with suppliers and IPS & client stakeholders for assigned orders
* Maintain Approved Supplier Program records as well as request subsequent QA related documents.
* Provide market updates (i.e., price increases, supplier mergers/acquisitions, supplier updates etc) to the wider IPS team as they become apparent. 

Qualifications:

* Prior experience in a project procurement role is desirable, 1-3 years.
* Daily use of excellent verbal and written communication in English is prerequisite.
* May be required to travel for short durations periodically.
