Work in the beautiful Kawarthas 3 days a week, 2 days at home ! Inteqna Markham is recruiting for a Business Analyst for a client located in Lindsay, Ontario. The role is responsible for the interaction with the user community to elicit, analyze, define and manage requires for changes to applications and systems. You ll be required to understand business needs and the technology required to address those needs, and create structured queries against databases. You ll be in a leadership role providing mentoring and support to IT colleagues and business decision makers within the organization Accountabilities: * Elicit requirements using various techniques including interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis and task and workforce analysis. * Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details, abstract up from low level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. * Maintain a vision of current and future projects in the portfolio; analyze the impact of change requests and ensure alignment of the delivered solutions to ensure that they add value to the organization. * Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs, functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional requirements, Business requirements, Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs. * Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management, stakeholders, and business units project leaders. * Develop full scale project plans and associated communications documents. * Perform root cause analysis and succinctly define the business requirements. * Serve as the conduit between both internal and external customers, and the software development team through which requirements flow. * Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze trade offs between usability and performance needs. * Provide test cases, coordinate and execute testing efforts to ensure development meets functional requirements. * Mentor other BA s and members of the IS team, enhancing their understanding of business needs, scope control and the need for user documentation. Requirements: * Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field, or satisfactory combination of formal education and experience. * 7 plus years of practical experience in an IT department * 5 plus years supporting business systems * Expertise with Enterprise Data Warehouse * Strong knowledge of external reporting requirements and processes, including IBC, and CSIO would be an asset. * Project management experience as asset * Specific experience with SQL queries, business views and report writing with Crystal and other reporting solutions. * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members, customers and vendors. * Excellent knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office Suite and above average MS PowerPoint, Access, Visio and Excel * Solid creative thinking and problem solving skills and experience are essential.
