Responsibilities:

Provides primary leadership and direction for all business operations for the departments of OP Rehabilitation
Services, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Diabetes Education and Nutrition Consultations. Supervises, orients and
trains all front and business office staff members in the department units. Serves as the department
representative and resource for Patient Financial Services, Patient Access, IS, HIM, Administration, Human
Resources, Finance and other departments for all departmental services related to admitting, billing,
documentation, scheduling and other business matters.

*  Establishes and maintains standards for quality, accuracy and timeliness of all business operations from
first point of contact through patient discharge for all outpatient and inpatient services.

*  Develops and administers performance and audit reports related to the quality of the business practices in
the departments.

*  Knowledgeable and compliant with HIPPA, Medicare, local, state and federal regulations as well as third
party procedures and regulations

*  Implements activities for effective resolution of identified issues as directed by Directors.

*  Responsible for business office staff related to all business functions to ensure accuracy, quality and
timeliness of required business procedures associated with registration, intake and scheduling, authorizations,
billing, documentation and collections services.

*  Trains, mentors and supervises all business office staff in proper customer service skills with emphasis on
patient experience metrics.
◦ Rounds on staff regularly
◦ Responsible for employee engagement activities for business operation staff

*  Staffing
◦ schedules business operation staff in accordance with volume expectations and adjusts scheduling as needed
to maintain optimal productivity and to minimize overtime and staffing expenses.
◦ assists with payroll corrections for the department units
◦ staffing coverage as dictated by schedule.

*  Maintains productivity standards for clinicians
◦ through consistent scheduling of required workloads
◦ collaboration and communication with supervisory staff when workload drops below productivity
expectations
◦ maintains/distributes reports on productivity, response time to scheduling and cancellations to department
management team.

*  Focuses on customer service and patient experience by
◦ responding expeditiously to patient, employee and physician and provider complaints
◦ demonstrates an ability to resolve issues independently, with a positive outcome.
◦ responsible for maintaining a high quality of personalized, individualized and professional attention and
response to all clients, patients and visitors. 

Qualifications:

Required

Associates and 1-3 years

Minimum of two years in a health care business setting.

1-3 years Previous experience in an outpatient setting with responsibility for the business continuum of charge entry to billing collections.

Knowledge/competence in billing, coding, claims management, collection and cash management.

Minimum of two (2) years supervisoryexperience in related field.

Requires previous computer experience with proficiency in healthcare financial, registration, health
information storage, and documentation programs (Examples: Cerner, EPIC, Lawson, FIN
Thrive)

Knowledge/competence in billing, coding, claims management, collection and cash management.

Ability to delegate and support other staff members' work duties without removing responsibility of others or oneself.

Ability to work independently, demonstrate consistent initiative with prompt problem resolution and excellent follow-through on all tasks.
