Responsibilities:

Day Part Time Break Relief Registered Nurse Neuroscience 

Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center of Excellence. The Neuroscience Unit is the designated unit where all Stroke Patients are admitted/transferred. We are also the designated unit for our Spine Surgery patients and we plan to see Joint Commission Designation as a Spine Center of Excellence in the upcoming year or two. We work closely with Dignity's Neuro Institute which provides many opportunities for ongoing education. The Neuroscience Unit is comprised of 30 private rooms and located on the 5th floor of the McAuley Tower. Our patients have a beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the East side of the unit, where they can watch the sunrise and enjoy natural light all day. We have a highly competent team who enjoys working together. Our RNs participate in daily Multidisciplinary Rounds, along with Physicians, PT/OT/ST staff, Pharmacists, Social Worker, Care Coordinators, Stroke Coordinator, and occasionally a representative from Administration.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery.

Every day, you will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans. You'll collaborate seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team, contributing to a dynamic environment focused on optimal patient outcomes.

* Assessment: Performs total body and system assessment each shift/visit according to unit standards.
* Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.
* Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit.
* Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures.
* Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
* Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors.

Qualifications:

This is a break relief RN position, intended to relieve the nurses for lunches and breaks during this positions designated shift between the hours of 1000-1630.

Minimum:

* Current CA RN License and BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
* 2 years acute care RN experience caring for patients with medical surgical conditions
* Recently taken Neuro Classes 

Preferred: 
* One (1) year Neuro experience preferred
* Neuro certification and proven recent ability to care for both Neuro, Medical and Neuro Surgical Patients preferred
* Basic Neuro (or) Advanced Neuro (or) Popouri training preferred
* CNRN or SCRN certification preferred
