Responsibilities:
The barback is the assistant of the bartender. Many bartenders start with a bar porter job, where they are able to first learn the ropes of the establishment. The bar porter job will have a first-hand look at how a bar is run, and will help better your speed, agility, and professionalism. The ideal candidate should have a great work ethic and helpful attitude.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver internal and external guest service in accordance with company service standards
- Performs all duties in a polite, professional, and responsible manner, including but not limited to immediately alerting management of guests who may be intoxicated, unruly or disruptive, as well as strictly enforcing the minimum age policy
- Sets up bars for operation; cuts fruit; stocks ice; empties garbage
- Supports bartender needs; ices drink glasses and pours non-alcoholic drinks as needed
- Wipes counter areas, sinks, and floors as required to maintain a clean and safe work- station
- Maintains cleanliness of designated areas as directed in accordance with established health and safety standards
- Maintains par stock levels and orders bar supplies as necessary; delivers orders
- Maintains equipment as required in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures; reports any maintenance problems to manager
- Removes and properly disposes of all refuse and debris accumulated in restaurant and service stations in accordance with department procedures
- Resolves service issues according to established guidelines
- Performs all job functions in conjunction with the guidelines described in the department standard operating procedures manual
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 21 years of age
- High school completion or equivalent required
- At least 2 to 3 years of high-volume experience preferred
- Ability to maintain HCA identified responsible alcohol service certification
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English
- Ability to describe and upsell/suggest specials, menu items, document and comprehend drink and food orders and communicate effectively to the kitchen and servers
