Practice Highlights: * Full scope, bariatric surgery practice * Current team consists of two surgeons and one APC * Only bariatric program system wide Responsibilities: Summary: Provides quality healthcare in collaboration with other healthcare providers in a bariatric surgery practice. Responsibilities: * Performs history and physical assessments. * Attendance at bariatric surgery information seminar * Prepares post op patient for discharge (prescriptions, teaching, post-surgical teaching) and dictates discharge summaries. * Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic x-ray and lab tests. * Responsible for seeing pre op patients in office and ensuring H & P s, data sheets, pre-op orders & labs completed. * Involved in teaching and counseling individuals, families, and groups. * Assist in surgery. * Responsible for seeing post op patients in office. * Work autonomously as well as collaborate with other health care providers as needed. * Performs health maintenance activities. * Serve as health care resources, interdisciplinary consultants, and patient advocate. * Administers preventative health care methods. * Periodic hospital rounding on inpatients. * Performs possible in-patient health care. * Performs other functions as required. Credentials Required: For Physician Assistant - Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of two years of prior surgical experience required.
