Title: Bakery Lead Merchandiser

Reports To: Bakery Manager

Are you passionate about bakery and pastry delights, with a knack for food service and customer service? We're looking for a dedicated Bakery Lead Merchandiser to join our team! In this role, you'll ensure our Bakery department is always fully stocked with fresh products and eye-catching displays, creating a delightful shopping experience for our customers (though, we refer to them as guests!).

Our bakery plays a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable experiences for guests' events and everyday moments alike, ranging from special occasions to everyday indulgences.

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do:

As a Festival Foods Bakery Lead Merchandiser, you will:

* Deliver Helpful Service: Providing excellent guest service is at the heart of what we do.  Whether it's a friendly greeting, answering questions or addressing guest concerns, you'll handle each interaction with professionalism and care. Your willingness to help guests with what they need, will make a positive impact every day.
* Guide and Support: Reinforce our Festival culture, food service standards, and customer service expectations. Provide guidance and support to our Bakery team, ensuring they deliver exceptional service.
* Maintain and Build Eye-Catching Displays: Oversee the merchandising of the Bakery department to ensure all products are attractively displayed and meet our high standards. Build, move, and refresh displays to keep them fresh, full, eye-catching and engaging.
* Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with the Department Manager and Bakery associates to maintain top-notch standards and exceed guest expectations.
* Offer Assistance: Assist customers with finding items, taking special pastry and bakery orders, and providing excellent service. Answer phones with proper etiquette and help Bakery Clerks with packaging, labeling, and maintaining a clean and organized department.
* Deliver Quality and Food Safety: Ensure all quality and quantity standards are met, and maintain food safety logs.
* Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
* Support the Team: Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

* Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide outstanding customer service and work effectively with guests and team members.
* Communication Skills: Oral and written communication skills and the ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Food Service Expertise: Knowledge of retail food service, bakery and pastry operations, with a strong understanding of food service standards and practices.
* Safety and Efficiency: Comprehensive knowledge of safety requirements and the ability to apply on-the-job safety training and safety policies to handle equipment and recognize and react potential hazards effectively.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. * Standing for extended periods of time (70% of the time)
* Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis (10% of the time)

Work Schedule:

This full-time position includes mornings, afternoons, weekends, and flexibility for evenings and holidays as needed.

Qualifications:

Job Title:                                Bakery Lead Merchandiser

Reports To:                           Bakery Manager

Under the direction of the Bakery Department Manager, responsible for working closely with all Bakery associates in an effort to keep the bakery department stocked and full of fresh product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Reinforces Festival culture, guest service, and performance expectations to all sales/service clerks'
* Answers questions and provides guidance to all Bakery department associates
* Ensures all department standards are being met on the Bakery department sales floor
* Observes sales floor conditions and takes action to correct areas of opportunity
* Communicates and works cooperatively with Department Manager and other Bakery associates to maintain standards and exceed guest expectations
* Ensure everything is fresh and full
* May need to build and/or move displays 
* Provides excellent services to all guests
* Assists guests with finding items they are looking for
* Takes orders for cakes and other special requests
* Packages and prices items from the service case
* Answers the telephone and assists guests using proper phone etiquette
* Assists Bakery Clerks with packaging, labeling, filling, rotating, and removing product while leading by example
* Maintains adequate level of supplies by replenishing packaging and other items as needed
* Contributes to overall cleanliness of the department by picking up, organizing, and cleaning work areas, shelving, and sales floor as needed
* Required to maintain food safety logs
*  Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
* Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
* Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel 
* Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment.
* Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies
* Must possess the ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises. Also requires proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, and baler
* Knowledge of the retail food business, thorough knowledge of perishable department operations, merchandising skills, and must be able to make timely and effective decisions
