Overview: Portland, Oregon Class B Route Driver with Hazmat Endoursement & Material Handling Duties East Penn Manufacturing is looking for a highly motivated, customer focused Backup Route Driver to join our world class family of employees. Drive dedicated with East Penn and enjoy a consistent schedule and pay, onsite management and regular deliveries to dedicated customers. Guaranteed 40 hours per week, normally with a 5 day work week but schedule may vary based off need and scheduled runs. This position will pay $31.30 per hour. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Plus a $2,500 Sign-On/Retention Bonus for CDL Drivers! Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this position will include various warehouse material handling and some backup route delivery driving. Material Handler: * Our Material Handlers are responsible for pulling (physical lifting) orders, loading and unloading of trucks, and loading batteries for customers. * Must be highly motivated and have good communication skills. * Candidate may be requested to work overtime. * Forklift experience required on both stand up and sit down forklifts. Class B Route Driver: * Delivers and picks up freight from specified customer locations, such as warehouses, retail stores, dealerships, and small businesses. * Schedule varies depending on run, trips may range from 1 to 2 days in length. * Driving a diesel or gasoline powered straight van with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 33,000 GVW. * Delivers and picks up freight from specified locations, such as warehouses, stores, industrial plants, railroad yards, and small businesses. * Verifies freight with shipping papers. * Drives to specified locations, applying knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, state and local driving laws, and hazardous material regulations. * Uses skills in highway navigation as well as maneuvering a vehicle in various situations, such as narrow passageways, heavy traffic, and adverse weather conditions. * Inspects the vehicle for mechanical and safety defects before and after each trip, and submits a report indicating the vehicle condition. * Maintains a Driver's Daily log according to Federal regulations. * Prepares shipping papers for freight received. * Interacts with customers when delivering or receiving freight or collecting payment for goods delivered. * Warehouse work using material handling equipment. Qualifications: * Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with Endorsements for Air Brakes and Hazmat (endorsements not required prior to employment but obtainment required during probationary period) Training provided. * Literate with good communication and math skills.
