				Overview:

BIRMINGHAM, AL (NATIONWIDE CANDIDATES CONSIDERED) - FULL-TIME NANNY / HOUSEHOLD MANAGER

A warm, values-driven family in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Nanny/Household Manager to partner closely with them in supporting their three young children (ages 9 months, 2.5 years, and 4 years) while helping bring lasting structure, organization, and intention to their home. This is a long-term opportunity for a confident, proactive professional who understands that a well-run household directly supports children's behavior, independence, and overall development. The family is seeking someone who could truly grow with them over time and become a meaningful, trusted presence in their lives.

All three children attend preschool or a mother's day-out-style program during the day, allowing this position to balance meaningful childcare with hands-on household management. Mom is a stay-at-home parent and very involved, while Dad works both in and out of the home. The family lives in a spacious 7,000-square-foot, three-story home, and the initial focus of the role will be creating order and long-term systems that support a calm, well-functioning household.
Household Manager Responsibilities
The family is seeking a highly organized individual who enjoys streamlining household operations and creating lasting systems. The nanny will take pride in maintaining orderly, clutter-free spaces and ensuring that main living areas remain organized and functional. Responsibilities include resetting spaces daily, keeping items put away in their proper places, organizing children's belongings, and helping establish household routines that support long-term organization.

An important aspect of the role is teaching the children responsibility for their environment, encouraging them to put their belongings away when finished and helping them understand that a clean, organized home is the standard for the household. The ideal candidate naturally notices what needs attention and takes initiative to eliminate clutter and maintain a calm, organized environment.

The family has a housekeeper who comes weekly, so the role focuses on organization and upkeep rather than deep cleaning. Children's laundry is required, and family laundry would be a welcome bonus but is not required.
Childcare Responsibilities
Childcare responsibilities include supporting morning and afternoon routines, assisting with meals and transitions, engaging in age-appropriate play, and reinforcing expectations around behavior, responsibility, and respect for the home. The nanny will work closely alongside Mom and should feel confident providing structure, consistency, and gentle but firm guidance when needed.

The family values a nanny who helps children develop strong character and respect for others, including encouraging manners such as "yes ma'am," "no ma'am," "yes sir," and "no sir." The nanny should also help foster a strong work ethic, encouraging children to follow through on commitments and responsibilities rather than giving up when something becomes challenging.

The family maintains limited screen time and prefers no television during the week, instead encouraging active play, creativity, and meaningful engagement.

Creative enrichment is strongly encouraged, and backgrounds or interests in music, piano, second languages (Spanish or French), or the arts are a meaningful plus.

The family is Episcopalian Christians, and while they are respectful of all beliefs, they are seeking a nanny who is comfortable working within a faith-centered household environment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a career nanny or household professional seeking a long-term role who brings both warmth and leadership into the home. The family is looking for someone who is:

* Active and energetic rather than sedentary

* Kind, loving, and nurturing

* Confident providing structure and discipline

* Comfortable setting boundaries and saying no when appropriate

* Highly organized and detail-oriented

* Neat, orderly, and systems-minded

* Hardworking and proactive

* Honest and transparent

* Calm and consistent under pressure

This is a role for someone who takes pride in leaving spaces better than they found them and understands that organization and follow-through are essential parts of supporting a thriving household.
Living Arrangements & Compensation
This position is designed as a long-term partnership, with the goal of finding someone who can truly grow with the family.

The family prefers that the nanny initially live nearby, and a housing stipend will be included as part of the compensation. Over time, there may be the opportunity for the role to transition into a live-in arrangement by mutual agreement.

The position guarantees 40 hours per week, with flexibility appreciated as household needs evolve.

Compensation is starting at $70,000 annually including housing support, with a targeted annual performance bonus of approximately $7,000.

Benefits include payroll compensation, paid time off, and sick days, with the possibility of additional benefits for the right long-term candidate.
Additional Details
This role includes a private bedroom and bathroom if the position transitions to live-in. The family has a large 120-pound dog and an older cat, so comfort with animals is essential and candidates should not have pet allergies.

Flexibility for occasional travel is a plus.

Above all, the family is seeking a true partner - someone who takes pride in their work, shares the family's values around structure and responsibility, and wants to invest long-term in helping a household run smoothly and intentionally.
