GFT is seeking a BIM Specialist to join our Transportation Group in Toronto, ON This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What you'll be challenged to do:
As a BIM Specialist in the roadway/highway design sector, you will play a critical role in integrating digital design technologies with infrastructure development.
In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:
You will support the civil engineering team by developing and managing Building Information Models (BIM) to enhance planning, design, and delivery processes for transportation projects. Your responsibilities will include:
* Collaborating with engineers and designers to create 3D models and digital workflows for roadway and highway infrastructure projects.
* Supporting project delivery by ensuring BIM standards are implemented, maintained, and updated throughout the design lifecycle.
* Developing and managing federated models, digital terrain models, and coordinated geometry for use in construction documentation.
* Conducting quality control on model accuracy, data integrity, and adherence to organizational and industry standards.
* Participating in project meetings to support coordination, clash detection, and visualization needs.
* Facilitating the use of BIM for constructability reviews, quantity takeoffs, and 4D simulations.
* Training project teams and stakeholders on BIM tools, workflows, and best practices.
Qualifications:
What you will bring to our firm:
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in civil infrastructure modeling using BIM software.
* Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks, and other BIM-related tools.
* Understanding of civil design processes related to highways, including alignment, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and drainage.
* Experience in model-based delivery (MBD) for DOT or public sector transportation projects.
* Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and translate them into coordinated 3D models.
* Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills with a proactive problem-solving attitude.
What We Prefer You To Bring:
* Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation in roadway/highway design projects.
* Knowledge of BIM standards such as ISO 19650 and familiarity with CDE platforms (e.g., BIM 360, ProjectWise).
* Experience with scripting or automation tools like Dynamo, Civil 3D APIs, or Python to improve modeling workflows.
* Exposure to 4D/5D BIM, GIS integration, and asset management workflows in infrastructure projects.
* Certification in Autodesk or Bentley software or BIM-related programs.
Compensation:
