Responsibilities:

Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization. This position requires multi-tasking, computer skills, good oral and written communication and customer service etiquette. Function as a part of the team and keep everyone apprised of the authorization situation. Responsible for Agency's ability to bill and be paid for visits made by the field staff.

* Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives
* Run and utilize computer reports regularly
* Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization
* Obtain and track authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization
* Clearly document all authorization requests
* Communicate with multiple disciplines
* Notify Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* High school graduate or GED
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience in health care billing and/or authorization practices
* General knowledge of the framework, organization, and function of home care
* Sound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimburesment 
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Exploreer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applications 
* Solid organizational skills, throughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi- task while prioritizing effectively 
* Ability to work independently and in a team enivronment 
* Excellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Professional appearance and demeanor
