The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Vice President, Development within our Los Angeles Division.
Reporting to the VP, Development, this leader is responsible for advancing the American Heart Association's mission through leading the Los Angeles Division's Go Red for Women and Heart Ball campaigns. As a player/coach, this includes ensuring that revenue goals are achieved for the campaign and overall division through consistent development, planning, execution and evaluation of agreed upon revenue generation and volunteer leadership engagement strategies.
We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities:
* Demonstrates the American Heart Association leadership competencies and employs effective management capabilities in the sourcing, recruitment, selection, coaching, management and leadership of staff (direct and/or indirect reports) to effectively develop and engage staff to achieve shared goals.
* As a player/coach, manages and directly implements the Go Red for Women and Heart Ball campaigns through driving to American Heart Association's best practices and collaborating on innovative strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Directly accountable for achieving revenue goals aligned with funding research, public health, professional education and training and community services.
* Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting, engaging and activating an influential, financially strong volunteer leadership base to support sustained campaign growth. Builds recruitment committees and executive leadership committees to identify and engage high level event Chairs and working committees.
* Prospects, solicits, closes and stewards high-level corporate and individual donors. Develops and implements year-round cultivation plans ensuring superior donor relations.
* Provides staff support in planning, developing, implementing, growing and evaluating campaigns and events consistent with agreed upon practices and event timelines.
* Provides staff support in volunteer leadership recruitment, orientation and development.
* Collaborates as a part of the Division, Western States and Association-wide team to ensure full alignment with vision and goals and provide consistent support in all aspects of fundraising and other assigned organizational initiatives.
* Ensures that team operates within appropriate operational and financial boundaries and within the financial capacity available. Operates in accordance with the American Heart Association's Fiscal
* Standard policies and all applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards
* Communicates proactively and timely with VP, Senior VP and other internal and external partners. Consistently delivers on commitments made to internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
* 3 years minimum of prior relevant experience and at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
* Demonstrated track record in building, leading and managing high performing, collaborative staff teams.
* Demonstrated track record in setting and achieving aggressive goals through volunteer engagement on a sustained basis.
* Ability to influence others to action through creating a shared vision and sense of ownership and personal accountability.
* Demonstrated experience recruiting and engaging high level corporate and medical executives as volunteers.
* Ability to credibly establish and execute a strategic plan across functional areas and disciplines in a complex and highly dynamic environment, effectively translating strategies to measurable goals and plans.
* Proven ability to think strategically, analyze market data, identify key trends - internal and external - and have participated in the strategy development and execution of initiatives to achieve mission-aligned fundraising and operational goals.
* Ability to do daily local travel; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
* This position requires the ability to travel within the assigned territory and travel outside territory to attend indoor/outdoor event-related activities, training sessions, and/or meetings/conferences, which may involve overnight stays and/or weekends.
