The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Research and Grant Administrator in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas. (Flexible work arrangements available)
The Associate Research and Grant Administrator will serve as the program lead for our foundational award programs. The role utilizes foundational science training and experience in research administration to assist in coordination, compliance, communication, and operational processes needed to ensure efficient program functioning.

Responsibilities:
Volunteer Leadership:
* Research volunteer background to match expertise to the appropriate program review committee.
* Sources, recruits, and develops volunteer peer reviewers (400-600 annually) from the scientific field of expertise to participate in research program proposal application reviews.
* Identifies and appoints chair and co-chair for each of 15 - 18 committees per 6-month review cycle.
* Build strong relationships with volunteer reviewers and provide timely, professional communication.
Pre‑Award & Peer Review Operations:
* Acts as a peer review process resource to ensure compliance with the American Heart Association policy on research programs and peer review.
* Assign proposals based on expertise and compliance, handling conflicts of interest.
* Supervise the AHAPeerReview@heart.org inbox and approve potential reviewers based on American Heart Association Peer Reviewer Qualifications.
* Prepares materials, technology, and agenda for committee meetings. Works with committee chairs and co-chairs to consolidate reviews and recommendations.
* Facilitate peer review meetings and ensure accurate dissemination of critiques and recommendations.
Project Management:
* Manages project workflow, assignments, timelines, and final deadlines.
* Distributes communication of scheduled activities and tracks attendance and assignments of volunteers.
* Coordinate cross‑departmental collaboration and maintain clear communication with internal and some external stakeholders.
* Independently plan and manage all logistics for in‑person peer review meetings, including volunteer coordination, travel and lodging arrangements, transportation, facility and technology setup, schedule and agenda development, and on‑site support to ensure a smooth, high‑quality experience that reflects American Heart Association standards.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* Proven project management capability, including the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and successfully complete multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment.
* Proficiency with databases and information systems, including the ability to run queries, extract data, and generate reports.
* Sophisticated skills in standard office and productivity software, with strong proficiency in document creation, spreadsheets, and collaboration tools.
* Proven experience in volunteer coordination and management, with the ability to build relationships and support groups of stakeholders.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft, edit, and produce professional reports, summaries, and other formal documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Public Health, Healthcare, Statistics, Science, or related area of study that requires research-related activities or equivalent experience preferred.
* Sophisticated planning, scheduling, and volunteer management skills
* Knowledge of various research programs (NIH, NHLBI, American Heart Association)
* Experience with grant management systems (ProposalCENTRAL or similar)
