Founded in 1887, Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center is a 318-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Serving over 70,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, women's health, and a family birth center. In 2025, we opened our new patient tower, Grand Tower, featuring a dramatically expanded Emergency Department and Family Birth Center that will increase patient comfort and privacy.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Teacher provides support to the teacher in carrying out classroom activities facilitating developmental appropriate play activities and maintaining a nurturing classroom learning environment. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner.
Qualifications:
* A minimum of 1 year experience providing early childhood services for children from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
* A minimum of 12 Child Development units and enrollment in college coursework leading to an AA degree
* Ability to function as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and at various organizational levels.
* Ability to make independent decisions and to take initiative in setting up the classroom environment in attending to a child who is injured who is in a conflict situation or who is endangering himself.
* Ability to effectively oversee an assigned group of children in a variety of activities.
* Experience in providing child development services to low-income families and families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
* Knowledge of normal infant toddler and pre-school development and early childhood education/child care practices.
* Knowledge of child abuse reporting laws and procedures.
* Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
* Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills.
* CPR and First Aid
