				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Resident Engineer - Rail Infrastructure to join our Construction Services team in New Rochelle, NY to work on a critical megaproject serving the region.

* This position involves significant nights and weekends to support project needs.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE), you will work closely with the Resident Engineer, other AREs, and field team to support daily construction activities. You will help coordinate project coverage, observe field work, and keep the project team informed on progress. Your role will include reviewing field documentation, supporting safety and quality efforts, and collaborating with design-build and project management teams to resolve issues as they arise.

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

* Support the daily observation of contractor operations on a rail-related transportation project in the New York tri-state area.
* Serve as a field support contact for the client and project stakeholders.
* Assist with coordination of field office personnel, including inspectors, community liaisons, and office engineers.
* Help review and track construction schedules, updates, and progress reports.
* Observe inspections, field testing, and commissioning activities.
* Assist in preparing construction change order documentation and weekly/monthly project reports.
* Support the review of contractor payment vouchers, manning reports, and labor documentation.
* Participate in project progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
* Help monitor site safety, permit compliance, and coordination with adjacent projects.
* Support the review of contractor submittals, Site Specific Safety Work Plans (SSSWP's), Construction Work Plans (CWP's) RFIs, shop drawings, and quality work plans (QWP's).
* Assist in preparing punch lists with the owner at project completion.
* Assist with field verification of Commissioning items and close out
* Provide administrative support including timesheet coordination, project correspondence, documentation, and database/schedule management.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
* OSHA 30-hour safety certification required
* 5+ years of experience supporting construction field activities, preferably in rail or transit projects
* Familiarity with Amtrak, Metro-North, LIRR, or other rail agencies preferred
* Ability to support field teams with catenary systems, rail facilities, or related infrastructure
* Valid driver's license
* Willingness to work nights and weekends
* Ability to develop and email reports as well as create/ modify excel spreadsheets
* Edit/ Mark-up PDF documents with the use of Blue Beam, or Adobe

What we prefer you bring:

* Familiarity with Project Management Procedures (PMP's) and Project Management Guidelines (PMG's)
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $146,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
