What you'll be challenged to do:
As an Assistant Project Manager / Highway Engineer, you will manage roadway projects for TXDOT and other local municipalities. You will guide design strategies, oversee project delivery, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to bring safe and sustainable infrastructure to the community. In this role, you will assist in planning, budgets, schedules, review technical documents, and ensure quality results. You'll also work directly with clients, support pursuit efforts, and assist in mentoring junior staff while growing your expertise in transportation project leadership.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Secure, plan, direct, and monitor roadway projects ranging from small assignments to large-scale, multi-discipline efforts with technical complexity
* Assist in leading project teams through preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
* Provide client-facing leadership as a Task Manager, ensuring delivery aligns with client expectations, agency standards, and GFT strategic initiatives
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, supporting business development and proposal efforts including writing, presentations, and pursuit strategy
* Guide, mentor, and coordinate multi-disciplinary staff, fostering collaboration and accountability while advancing technical excellence
Qualifications:
What you will bring to our firm:
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
* PE license in Texas
* 5 - 10 years of highway and roadway design / project management experience with increasing responsibility
* Proficient in MicroStation, and Microsoft Office
* Design experience with TXDOT
* Strong highway design skills and ability to mentor junior staff
* Experience in staff supervision and project coordination
* Experience preparing submittals and coordinating with permitting agencies
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
