Overview:
Colliers Engineering & Design is searching for an Assistant Project Manager in Binghamton, NY to join our Environmental team!
In this role, you will assist in the technical and administrative direction and supervision of projects through constant communication with the Project Manager and the client to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the contract. May serve as Project Manager on smaller projects to develop the skills for a career path into Project Management.
Colliers Engineering & Design's environmental experts and Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) provide effective site redevelopment and remediation solutions to a variety of private, commercial and governmental clients. Our professionals possess a keen understanding of the regulatory, technical and financial aspects of projects, and are accustomed to working closely with legal, fiduciary and institutional specialists to the benefit of our clients.
Our project team members are selected according to the unique needs of our clients, and are drawn from our in-house engineers, environmental scientists, geologists and geophysicists. In addition to remediation, our project managers possess decades of experience in permitting, water-resource management, wetlands and ecological studies, grants and funding, and litigation support.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in preparation of effective work plans and labor budgets for approval by supervisor.
* Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy client.
* Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
* Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
* Participate in or hold team meetings ensuring procedures governing the review and approval of projects are followed prior to submission of completed work.
* Negotiate with clients on any scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules subject to supervisor's approval.
* Ensure all project work is performed and completed in accordance with QA/QC standards, systems and procedures as designated for project.
* Assist with day to day field requirements related to project execution and deliverables.
* Coordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates (i.e. Project team meeting).
* Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-established goal.
* Assist with mentoring junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
* Assist with the preparation for public hearings, meetings and any other presentations in relation to current projects.
* Works efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to client. Follows up with clients for timely payments.
* Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
* Assists with the selection, negotiation, and managing of all activities regarding external clients.
* Demonstrate extensive, diversified, and complex knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
* 8+ years of experience in Environmental Services field as a Technician, Scientist, Geologist or Environmental Engineer.
* Professional License (CPG, FG, PG, PE, LSRP, EP) preferred.
* Demonstrate advanced technical and non-technical writing, editing and proofreading skills.
* Valid driver's license preferred.
* May oversee the activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation and daily supervision.
* Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $80,300 to $119,500 per year (depending on qualifications)
