Overview:
This is a provisional appointment.
Reporting to the Payroll Director, the Assistant will work within the Payroll Unit of the Finance Division.
Responsibilities:
* Supervising payroll staff in the absence of the Director.
* Preparing special reports requested by the Payroll Director and Finance Director.
* Preparing the weekly payroll management report for the Finance Director.
* Maintaining and reporting weekly overtime information to each Boston Police Department Bureau Director.
* Working with the BAIS Project team at City Hall regarding special queries and information needs.
* Performing other payroll-related tasks as directed by the Payroll Director or Finance Director and other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
* Applicants must have a minimum of four (4) years of paid professional experience in payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting, of which at least two (2) years must have been supervisory, is required.
* An undergraduate degree in a related field is preferred.
* Applicants must have experience in Financial Analysis.
* Preference will be given to candidates who have experience using the following programs: PeopleSoft, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
