Overview:
This Position is Physically Located in Iraq, Balad
Under supervision of the Deputy Fire Chief, The Assistant Fire Chief plans, organizes, and directs all fire protection activities throughout base camps, facilities, and tents. Services include conducting fire inspections and providing firefighting support devices, such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and lighted exit signs. Develops, implements, and manages the fire protection maintenance, inspection, and testing program to ensure compliance with AR 420-1, Army Facilities Management, Chapter 25, Fire and Emergency and USG theater policies, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Guidelines.

* Develops, implements, and manages the fire protection maintenance, inspection, and testing program to ensure compliance with AR 420-1, Army Facilities Management, Chapter 25, Fire and Emergency and USG theater policies, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Guidelines.

Qualifications:
* Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
* Associate's degree required. BS/BA degree in Fire Protection Engineering preferred. Must provide a copy of the diploma or college transcript.
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
* Experience:
* Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Fire Inspector.
* Must have in-depth knowledge of and experience implementing the NFPA code.
* Licenses/Certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor II, Plans Examiner I, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator and HAZMAT Incident Commander
* Must meet training and certification requirements outlined in DOD 6055.06-M.
* Skills:
* Deep understanding of a variety of diesel generator engine models
* Strong understanding of power generation, engine maintenance and minor overhauls
* Understanding of manufacturers technical publications and wiring diagrams, technique of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines and use of multipurpose test equipment
* Principles of operating 2000kVA and smaller diesel engines to include: Caterpillar, Cummins, Mitsubishi and FG Wilson
* Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and the NEC
* Possess proficient English oral and written communications skills
* Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork
* Exercise discretion and good sound judgment
* Basic computer skills
* Working Conditions:
* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
* Physical Requirements:
* Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
