				Overview:

The City of Boston Law Department provides legal services to the Mayor, City Council, and City departments regarding their official capacities within the City government. The City of Boston Law Department operates under the sole authority of the Corporation Counsel. The Corporation Counsel has supervisory authority over all City attorneys and legal affairs and is responsible for all litigation to which the City of Boston is a party. 

Under the direction of the Corporation Counsel and the supervision of the Legal Advisor, the City of Boston seeks an Assistant Corporation Counsel to join the City of Boston Office of Legal Advisor Public Facilities Department and Commission team.  

The Public Facilities Department provides support to all city departments in planning, design, construction, and major renovations of City-owned buildings. The Public Facilities Commission established by the Acts of 1966, Chapter 642, is an appointed board which provides oversight of city real property acquisitions and dispositions, acceptance and expenditure of federal and state funds, and approval for design and services contract awards.

Responsibilities:

* Provides representation and legal support to PFD and PFC, including court proceedings, administrative hearings, and any other related proceedings. 
* Provides legal advice and support on all phases of design and construction, public bidding, contract administration, compliance matters, and disputes in accordance with applicable laws.
* Assists in legal review of PFC vote requests, agenda, meeting minutes, and other related tasks necessary to meet monthly scheduled meetings. 
* Engages in and conducts land acquisition and disposition agreements, leases, licenses, eminent domain takings, and other related documents to support PFD projects.
* Responsible for managing a caseload in all matters as assigned. 
* Performs related work as required. 

Qualifications:

* Juris Doctorate required.
* Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with no disciplinary record. 
* At least three plus (3+) years of experience in a law firm or governmental legal office. 
* Experience in municipal, real estate, and/or construction law is strongly preferred. 
* Comprehensive level of knowledge in public bidding laws and/or construction is advantageous.
* Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and focus on details as required by the job.
