				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking a Assistant Bridge Inspector to join our Practice or CBG Team in Charleston SC, Columbia SC,Charlotte NC, and Greenville SC! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our North Carolina or South Carolina office.

What you'll be challenged to do:
Responsible for data entry into the North Carolina Transportation Bridge Management System facilitated via the Internet and the NCDOT Wigins database.  Looking for a technical individual, team oriented with strong communication skills. Individual must be willing to take direction, travel, and work outside

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Enter inspection data and field notes into the NCDOT Bridge Management System and WIGINS database with accuracy and timeliness.

* Support bridge inspection teams by preparing condition reports and organizing inspection findings for formal submittals.

* Assist in organizing, maintaining, and tracking structure inspection files across various projects and programs.

* Translate field notes into digital format using Microsoft Word, Excel, and specialized asset management tools.

* Take basic field measurements and assist with photo documentation of structures.

* Perform file management and administrative duties, such as creating folders, archiving documentation, and managing digital photo logs.

* Communicate effectively with sub-consultants and internal team members to coordinate tasks, confirm information, and ensure data quality.

* Travel to field sites with inspectors as needed; work may include exposure to outdoor conditions, climbing structures, or accessing remote bridge locations.

* Follow established data protocols, naming conventions, and report formatting requirements.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm: 

* High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 year of data entry experience.

* Ability to type 50+ words per minute with strong attention to accuracy and detail.

* Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with:

* Microsoft Word

* Microsoft Excel

* Email and file-sharing systems

* Willingness and ability to travel and work outdoors, including working in field environments such as under bridges, near waterways, or on inspection vehicles.

* A team-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to follow direction, learn new systems, and support technical teams.

* Commitment to a collaborative work environment that values learning, shared knowledge, and inclusivity.

What we prefer you bring: 

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel beyond basic level.

* Familiarity with the following tools is a plus:

* Adobe Acrobat

* Paint.net

* BetterJPEG

* Print Station

* Google Maps

* ProjectWise (document and drawing management system)

* Experience organizing large volumes of files or managing documentation for infrastructure or construction-related projects.
