Global Communities is seeking an Agribusiness Specialist for an anticipated project. This two-year program will contribute to the food and nutritional security of vulnerable communities in the Moskitia and the Atlantic Coast of Honduras through environmentally sustainable, resilient, and culturally relevant solutions. The Agribusiness Specialist will promote agricultural diversification; focus technical assistance and field training on the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP); and introduce changes in production systems to leverage technological innovation and achieve increased land and labor productivity, adaptation, and climate change mitigation. They will also define strategies for the insertion of producers into the market and their eventual linkage to production financing systems. Responsibilities: * Leads and coordinates activities to strengthen the capacities of producer organizations/groups in the target geography. * Participate in the process of prioritizing communities and defining technical assistance criteria. * Review and approve the planning and reporting of weekly activities performed by personnel under his/her charge, and report weekly summaries of relevant activities to the general coordinator. * Lead the process of development and implementation of agro-coastal business plans, providing support and technical assistance in the different stages of the process in collaboration with the financial specialist. * Coordinate activities with strategic allies in the geographic area under his/her responsibility and with project field technicians. * Ensure the achievement of goals and objectives and the quality of the project's technical assistance. * Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation unit to prepare periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) to be sent to project management stakeholders at the agreed intervals. * Responsible for the administrative and disciplinary oversight of the personnel under his charge. * Select, together with Agriculture team, the potential sites and leading producers for the establishment of field schools, based on the number of producers to be benefited in the department. * Support the evaluation of existing women-led microenterprises. * Define mechanisms, methodologies, and strategies for the timely identification of agrifood product investments in the intervention zone. * Lead the work of the team members under his/her charge, implementing processes of planning, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of their roles, responsibilities, and achievement of goals and objectives. * Act as the main liaison with stakeholders and/or strategic allies of the grant, such as: Municipal and Local Governments, Producers' Associations, Cooperatives, Civil Society, and Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations. * Propose and provide technical and administrative assistance to beneficiaries and strategic allies. * Conduct a rapid diagnosis on the implementation of GAP and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) among producers who have worked with extension programs. * Follow-up on the implementation of GAP and GMP by producers. * Attend to any activity entrusted to him/her. Qualifications: Key requirements * A university degree in agribusiness, international trade, agricultural sciences, economics, agricultural economics, management, or other discipline related to the functions and responsibilities of the position; with a master's degree in any subject area related to agriculture, economics, finance, agribusiness, rural development or other related area. * At least five (5) years of work experience in promoting agricultural or rural development or agribusiness promotion with producers in rural or protected areas. * Verifiable experience in providing or facilitating agricultural extension services with producers in rural, indigenous and afro-descendant communities. * Verifiable experience in the formulation or implementation of business plans for rural producers, with emphasis on agribusiness and/or market access support. * Verifiable experience working with rural communities or with organizations or groups of producers in the coordination, adoption and/or transfer of knowledge, taking into account producer families with culturally differentiated agricultural practices. * Verifiable experience in the management and application of participatory methodologies with communities, producers or producer organizations in rural areas, especially with indigenous peoples' producers. * Verbal and written communication skills; intercultural communication skills. * Leadership and ability to coordinate with technical teams from different disciplines. * Social skills to facilitate the inclusion of vulnerable groups (women, youth, indigenous people, afro-descendants and people with disabilities). * 100% proficiency in Spanish (spoken, reading and writing). Knowledge of the Miskito, Tawaka, Pech and/or Garífuna language will be an advantage, but is not required.
