Overview:
In accordance with professional standards of care and adhering to the corporate philosophy of OSF Medical Group (OSFMG), the Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant is responsible for:
* Providing high-quality patient care and a truly personalized, patient-centric experience aligned with each patient's preferences, goals, and needs
* Primarily inpatient neurosurgery care in a hospital-based setting, including comprehensive neurological assessments, daily rounding, histories and physicals, new consults, admissions, and discharges
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons
* Prepare patients for surgery, manage postoperative care, and support smooth care transitions across the continuum
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging, prescribe medications, and document all care provided
* Provide patient and family education to enhance understanding of diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management plans
* Work closely with nursing, rehabilitation, and other specialty services to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
* Perform procedures alongside residents
* Exposure to a broad range of acute and complex neurological cases
* Collaborative work environment with neurosurgeons, residents, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams
* Two 12-hour shifts per week (5:45 AM - 6:15 PM), Rotating weekends and holidays as part of the schedule

* Clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $60.39-$68.10. This is a salaried position.
* Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* Licensed to provide either advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act OR physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987
* Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics
* BLS/ACLS Certified
* Neurosurgery experience preferred, new graduates will be considered
* Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hospital environment while maintaining patient-centered focus
