The Administrative Professional - Congressional Communications will provide expert-level support to the Director of Staff Directorate at Space Systems Command (SSC), United States Space Force. This role requires a high degree of critical thinking, political acumen, and familiarity with Congressional processes to ensure effective communication and coordination between SSC and Congressional stakeholders. Responsibilities: Congressional Analysis & Insight: * Apply critical thinking to analyze and synthesize Congressional Defense Committee (CDC) concerns and issues. * Provide expert insight into the annual congressional cycle, including key events in the Air Force/Space Force Task/Response Timeline. Strategic Communication & Documentation: * Assist in the preparation and review of responses to Congressional Requests for Information (RFIs), Questions for the Record (QFRs), strategic messaging, and testimonies. * Draft and edit clear, concise, and technically accurate communications for senior leadership. Congressional Engagement Support: * Plan, coordinate, and manage logistics for Congressional Delegation (CODEL) and committee visits. * Develop briefing templates and materials for SSC reviews and engagements. Research & Reporting: * Conduct in-depth research on Congressional activities, players, and climate. * Provide bi-annual briefings to SSC PEOs, SSC/CC, and/or next-level leadership on Congressional dynamics, electoral issues, and items of interest. Liaison & Real-Time Communication: * Serve as a liaison between SSC and Congressional stakeholders, relaying real-time updates and insights via phone or email. * Maintain awareness of evolving legislative priorities and their implications for SSC programs. Administrative & Status Reporting: * Document activities and provide weekly status updates during staff meetings or as directed. * Ensure compliance with Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) A001. Qualifications: * US citizen with an active Top Secret / SCI security clearance is required. * Ten plus (10+) years of experience. * MA/MS degree. * Twelve (12) years' work experience may be subsituted for master's degree * Bachelor's degree plus eight (8) years work experience may be substituted for a master's degree. * Demonstrated knowledge of: * Congressional Defense Committees (CDCs) * Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, Space Force, and SSC organizational structures and missions * Space acquisition programs and reporting processes Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally. Experience supporting senior leadership in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment. Proficiency in preparing briefings, reports, and strategic communications. Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate logistics for high-level engagements. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a Congressional liaison or legislative affairs role within DoD or a military service. Familiarity with the Congressional budget and appropriations process.
