				Overview:

The Administrative Assistant I performs a variety of administrative functions. This position reports to a manager and provides assistance utilizing secretarial support skills to maintain departmental operation.

The Center for Discovery and Innovation- CDI was established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) as an academic basic and translational research enterprise to rapidly translate science innovation to the clinic and to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disease and other acute and chronic diseases.  The CDI has grown rapidly since its origins in 2019, and now has 39 labs, 200+ scientists and allied personnel supported by 78 NIH and DoD grants and more than 87 other grants and contracts. Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics and biomarker development, rheumatology and pharmacology.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Administrative Assistant I at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

* Schedules appointments, meetings or conferences for departmental personnel utilizing interdepartmental and/or hospital wide computerized scheduling systems. 
* Prioritizes calls through screening process, transfers calls, records messages, and delivers to appropriate personnel.
* Coordinates special projects as instructed, composes memos, transcribes notes, and researches and creates presentations. 
* Generates reports, handles multiple projects, and prepares and monitors invoices and expense reports.
* Takes and/or transcribes minutes at meetings. 
* Reviews and distributes daily mail correspondence to appropriate personnel.
* Orders office supplies and maintains inventory. 
* Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals and files.
* May assist with compiling and developing the annual budget. 
* Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
* Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 
* Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications. 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

* Some college level coursework. 
* Experience in health care or corporate sectors.
