Responsibilities:

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD is seeking talented and results-driven professionals to join our team as either an Actuarial Analyst or Senior Actuarial Analyst, support our Program Business key actuarial functions. The position can be located in Wilkes-Barre (PA), New York City (NY), or Philadelphia (PA). The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required. 

We're looking for candidates who excel in technical analysis, process development, and providing valuable insights to support business decisions. Depending on qualifications and experience, we will hire at either the Actuarial Analyst or Senior Actuarial Analyst level. 

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct basic actuarial analysis related to pricing and reserving
* Develop and maintain actuarial tools and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of analysis.
* Implement methodology enhancements and process efficiencies
* Document work to ensure reproducibility and clarity for other team members
* Perform data preparation validation, and analysis using tools like SQL
* Analyze data trends to address business challenges and create actionable insights
* Summarize analysis results into actuarial reports and communicate findings within the department
* Support industry research and studies for actuarial projects
* Mentor and develop team members as appropriate through peer review 

Qualifications:

Actuarial Analyst

* Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field with a strong mathematics background
* 2-5 years of actuarial experience, with commercial lines exposure preferred
* Successful completion of 2 or more exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)
* Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and programming
* Experience with relational databases required; SQL preferred

Senior Actuarial Analyst

* Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field with a strong mathematics background
* 3+ years of actuarial experience, with commercial lines exposure preferred
* Successful completion of 4 or more exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)
* Advanced technical skills, including expertise in Microsoft Excel and programming
* Experience with relational databases required; SQL preferred

Compensation Ranges:

Actuarial Analyst: $60,000.00 - $115,000.00

Senior Actuarial Analyst- $73,000.00-$135,000.00

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
