				Overview:

Job Summary: The Sports Activity Instructor provides activities to engage participants through recreational athletic or fitness workshops, thereby allowing them to learn new skills and develop an understanding of sports/fitness. 

Reports to:    Program Director at Beacon MS 45

Location:       Bronx, NY

Hours:           Up to 18 Hours/week; Non-Exempt, 3:00-6:30pm, Monday-Friday (1 Saturday a month)

Salary:          $19/hr - $25/hr

Major Duties:

* Design, plan and conduct activities and workshops in specified areas of Sports/fitness.
* Submit lesson plans in advance.
* Conduct activities that will engage participants and retain them.
* Coach and Mentor youth from 1st to 12th grade. 
* Teach basic fitness preparedness and correct form to participants.
* Conduct activities around team sports or other team building/strengths activities.
* Plan and implement a culminating sports/fitness event or project. 
* Complete daily attendance.
* Manage setup, operation and cleanup of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.
* Supervise 1-2 Group Leaders or Assistant Group Leaders.
* Train and delegate responsibilities to a Group Leader or Assistant Group Leader in sports/fitness. 
* Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified.
* Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions, and becoming involved in program activities.

Qualifications:

* High School diploma required; Associate/Bachelor's degree in sports are encouraged to apply. 
* Must have experience or skills in sports/fitness instruction.
* Excellent group facilitation skills.
* Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
* Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
