				Overview:

This position will be hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day WFH) and can be worked in either our Jersey City, NJ or Cleveland, OH office.

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is a multi-national property and casualty insurance holding company that is looking for an Accountant I to join the Specialty Risk Division in Jersey City, NJ or Cleveland, OH. In this position, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of internal journal entries and account reconciliations and assist with external financial reporting prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 

The expected salary range for this role is $60,000 - 70,000.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  Calculate and record quarterly activity for assigned business partners on multiple companies including insurance carrier(s) and obligor company(s)

  Trend analysis for assigned business partners; investigate and provide commentary on fluctuations for management

  Accurately and timely completion of assigned account reconciliations

  Process weekly wire requests and provide cash forecasting to Treasury

  Track claims reimbursements for all business partners

  Assist with non-routine transactions and ad-hoc accounting projects upon request

Qualifications:

  Bachelor's degree in accounting

  1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and/or audit

  Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting

  Well-developed organizational and time management skills, consistently meets deadlines

  Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  High attention to detail and accuracy, actively seeks to improve processes

  Curious and eager to learn

  Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
