Responsibilities:
We are seeking a relationship-driven Account Underwriter to join our Strategic Payroll Partners Underwriting team in Scottsdale, Arizona. In this role, you will take ownership of underwriting responsibilities for a defined agency territory, with a strong emphasis on field presence and business development. The ideal candidate pairs underwriting experience with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the primary underwriting contact for assigned agency partners, maintaining a consistent on-site presence in their local office (minimum 3 days per week) to drive new business growth.
* Underwrite Workers' Compensation, BOP/GL, and Commercial Auto business for new and renewal submissions profitably, following company guidelines and granted authority.
* Manage endorsements and provide ongoing service for agents within the defined agency territory.
* Develop and execute marketing strategies in collaboration with distribution and agency partners.
* Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance service delivery, surface key concerns and agency feedback, and advocate for effective solutions.
* Contribute to strategic planning by offering insights into market trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning.
* Represent the company at sponsored agency events, strengthening brand visibility and building relationships.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, including at least 1 year of workers' compensation experience.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
* Proven ability to develop and maintain productive agency relationships.
* Strong critical thinking, risk analysis, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Self-starter with the ability to work independently while contributing to a larger team vision.
* Comfortable with frequent travel within assigned region and occasional travel to home office.
