Overview:
GDC IT Solutions is looking for an AWS Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work, with one required day onsite each week, and is based in Harrisburg, PA.
Responsibilities:
* Drive architectural decisions and define best practices for cloud-based systems, particularly in AWS.
* Lead the migration from legacy mainframe systems to cloud-native architectures.
* Architect, engineer, and support all solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
* Maintain compliance with NIST 800-53, FedRamp, and internal enterprise security standards.
* Debug and maintain AWS-based distributed systems and services.
* Manage cloud cost optimization and ensure cloud transformation aligns with financial goals.
* Oversee performance management, monitoring, logging, and AMI configuration within AWS.
* Design and configure VPCs, account management, and routing/security protocols.
* Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams and environments.
* Lead high-level/low-level infrastructure design in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Implement and support core cloud technologies: OpenShift, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MuleSoft, etc.
* Participate in ARB processes, requirement traceability, and architectural documentation.
* Mentor and coach team members while serving as a technical lead.
* Train others and act as SME on AWS Core, IaC, Kafka, and NoSQL technologies.
* Provide last-line support for critical, high-availability production environments.
* Break work into agile-ready, sprint-sized tasks and enforce team accountability to architecture.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* 7-10 years of experience in infrastructure support, delivery, engineering, and architecture.
* 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud design, configuration, and support (AWS preferred).
* Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
* Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
* Experience working in DevSecOps environments and with tools such as JIRA and SAFe Agile.
* Demonstrated knowledge of federal compliance frameworks (FedRamp, Federal Student Aid).
* Expertise in AWS services including VPC, CloudWatch, Redshift, Billing, and Load Balancers.
* Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Perl).
