Responsibilities:

About the Role - Location open to Sydney or Melbourne

* This is a brand-new role within our AWS Growth Engine team at SoftwareOne ANZ, reporting directly to the AWS Sales Lead. It sits alongside our AWS Specialist Sales and BDE functions, working hand-in-hand with our AWS SDR and BDEs to identify, shape and accelerate AWS opportunities across the region.
* The AWS Pre-Sales Architect is responsible for providing deep technical expertise and pre-sales support, ensuring customer outcomes are aligned to best practice AWS architectures, while also enabling our broader sales teams to confidently engage in AWS conversations. This role is pivotal to the growth and maturity of our AWS practice in ANZ.
* Experience with AWS is an absolute non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

Opportunity Support

Partner with our BDEs and Specialist Sales team to qualify, design and shape customer opportunities across migration, modernisation and innovation. Lead workshops, RFPs, and technical discovery sessions, ensuring solutions align to AWS best practice.

Sales Synergy

Work shoulder-to-shoulder with AWS BDEs and Specialists to drive joint account strategies, helping translate technical value into commercial outcomes for customers.

Enablement & Reuse

Develop reusable packages that support our sales teams with simplified "t-shirt size" solutions, whilst retaining the flexibility to design bespoke solutions as required. Provide feedback loops into the global AWS CoE team to ensure ANZ customer requirements are represented.

Focus on Migration & Modernisation

Drive AWS Migration and Modernisation sales plays, aligning solutions to market demand, customer challenges and AWS funding programs.

Customer Engagement

Present solutions confidently to technical and non-technical stakeholders, from IT leads through to C-level executives. Act as the trusted technical voice for AWS within customer engagements.

Practice Growth

Contribute to the expansion of our AWS practice in ANZ by staying on top of AWS service evolution, building thought leadership in market, and supporting pipeline growth initiatives.

What a Week Might Look Like

* Partnering with an AWS BDE on a new migration opportunity, facilitating a whiteboarding session to map customer dependencies and cloud landing zone requirements.
* Supporting a Specialist Sales colleague on a customer RFP response, providing technical validation and architectural recommendations.
* Running a workshop with a healthcare customer to explore modernisation options using AWS native services.
* Developing reusable migration and modernisation packages to accelerate opportunity qualification across the sales team.
* Feeding insights from customer engagements back into the AWS CoE team to influence solution design and global offerings.
* Building enablement guides that simplify AWS funding programs for sales teams.

Qualifications:

* Full-time work rights in Australia
* Ability to commute to our office either in Sydney or Melbourne and visit clients as needed.

Knowledge, Experience & Expertise

* Deep hands-on experience with AWS architectures, ideally with service provider, migration, or transformation background.
* Proven track record in pre-sales, consulting or solution architect roles, ideally in AWS-focused engagements.
* Strong understanding of AWS technology, service portfolio, common terminologies, and funding programs (e.g. MAP, OLA, PoCs).
* Ability to build and present cloud economics models (TCO, ROI) for migrations and modernisation.
* Strong presentation and workshop facilitation skills across technical and business audiences.
* Familiarity with modern application architectures, cloud-native services, DevOps, AWS Data & AI services (SageMaker, Bedrock, Redshift, Glue), and AWS Security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector, IAM, Control Tower).
* Working knowledge of compliance tooling within AWS (Config, Audit Manager, Artifact).
* AWS Professional-level certification (Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent) is expected.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
