				Overview:

0.8 FTE, working 32 hours per week

APRN will work in our new SCOUTS (Sickle Cell Outreach in Schools) program. The APRN will work a 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) in the new SCOUTS position and a 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week) in Hematology to maintain competency. This will be a year-round position with some variation in hours over summer. We are looking for a candidate with strong hematology experience specifically in Sickle Cell diagnosis, treatment, and management of this choriic disease. The team will consist of an APRN and RN. Candidate must work well independently. Previous experience in any program development would be great. 

Provides healthcare to patients enrolled in the Sickle Cell Outreach in Schools (SCOUTS) program in accordance with relevant standards and regulations. Assists with program management and provides education for community and care providers.

Responsibilities:

*  Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the SCOUTS program. 

*  Collaborates and communicates with school nurses, care providers, and families to develop and manage appropriate care plans. 

*  Acts as a clinical resource for school nurses and families. Provides education and training for the healthcare team and community. 

*  Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and prescribes medication for sickle-cell patients according to established guidelines and standards as necessary for the care of the patient. 

*  Participates in professional development activities and organizations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and ensuring quality patient care. 

*  Maintains clear and effective medical documentation and communication. 

*  Contributes to the goals of Community Wellness, the SCOUTS program, and the Hospital Strategic Plan.

Qualifications:

Education Requirement: 
Master's Degree in science, health, or equivalent field, required. 

Licensure Requirement: 

*  Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Ohio, required. 

*  Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines. 

Certifications: 

*  Maintains national certification as APRN in the appropriate population foci for the position, or PA, required. 

*  Certificate to Prescribe (CTP), required. 

Physical Requirements: 
OCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Chemicals/Medications, Climb stairs/ladder, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Driving motor vehicles (work required) *additional testing may be required, Flexing/extending of neck, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 21-40 lbs, Patient Equipment, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 100 lbs or greater with assistance, Pushing / Pulling: 26-40 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 41-60 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 61-100 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Squat/kneel
