Our client in distribution is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all functions within accounts payable including vendor management, training, coaching and process improvements. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting and works closely with other Finance team members.
Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership, training and oversight to day-to-day accounts payable activities
* Implement industry's best practices in AP and oversees maintenance of monthly accruals
* Manage and assist with resolving internal and external vendor issues
* Oversee activities related to processing vendor invoices, transactional data entry, cheque runs and reconciliations
* Ensure accurate vendor setup and payment, proper coding, and compliance with company policies and procedures
* Improve AP processes to gain efficiencies and enhance internal controls
* Manage month-end close of accounts payable (including AP reporting requirements) and sales transactions by ensuring unprocessed/outstanding expenses and invoices are properly posted to ERP system
* Process sales invoices, which includes: coding, posting and ensuring accurate calculation of commission and sales tax
* Ensure compliance with various federal and provincial tax regulations
* Support other Finance team members with the month-end close and other ad-hoc projects
Qualifications:
* Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting preferred
* 5+ years of accounts payable experience in a high volume environment
* Min. 2 years supervisory or managerial experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Self-motivated, energetic and the ability to multi-task
* Good organizational skills and pays attention to detail
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Ability to function as part of a team in a fast paced environment
* Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and support.
* High proficiency in the use of PCs, MS Excel and MS Word, with advanced level Excel skills
* Proficiency with major ERP system - Microsoft Dynamics NAV is preferred
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
